Early on Thursday, April 20, state police in Stroud Township pulled over a car for equipment violations and suspected DUI, they said in a release. The driver was soon found to have an active arrest warrant and refused to exit the car when ordered by troopers, police said.

After becoming "combative," authorities claim the driver fled the scene in their car. Troopers gave chase for 19 miles before the car lost control and crashed into a wooded area, according to the release.

With the help of firefighters, the driver and one passenger were removed from the wreck, police said. Another passenger was pronounced dead at the scene "from injuries sustained in the vehicle crash," they added.

None of the involved have been identified by state troopers, and the investigation remains ongoing.
